Maine State Museum "Nailed to the Mast"

Augusta is less than an hour trip from the Flagship Inn in Boothbay Harbor. The Maine State Museum launches their 2013 series of free talks beginning with: "Nailed to the Mast" Maritime songs of the Union and Confederacy, presented by Stephen N. Sanfilippo. The program is March 13th at 6:30 PM, and will include a variety of songs sung by Sanfilippo, and he will be placing them in historical context.  The program will concentrate on the men of four well-known ships and two well-know battles: the U.S.S. Monitor versus the C.S.S. Virginia in the 1862 Battle of Hampton Roads, and the C.S.S. Alabama versus the U.S.S. Kearsarge off Cherbourg, France in 1864.  check out the website for more info.  www.mainestatemuseum.org
